Conductor Marc Andreae, who's the composer's grandson, succeeds on both counts, eliciting outstanding performances from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Tenor Benjamin Hulett and oboist John Anderson, who both hail from Britain, get a standing ovation for their superb interpretations of the song cycle and concertino.
