With strong contingents of chariots, Yin Ji 尹吉 repelled the invaders, and Nan Zhong 南仲 drove them farther away. King Xuan entrusted Qin Zhong's sons with the protection of the metropolitan region to the west, and thus created the regional state of Qin. Jizi Bai 季子白, lord of Guo, heavily defeated the Xianyun in 823.
