Sacklowski is the German mis-spelling which occurred about 150 to 200 years ago. Fathers, when they had a child, used to get drunk and when the child was baptized the priest was not always correctly informed of the spelling of the family name. The name was originally Polish/Russian and spelled Sokolowski.(There was a famous Russian general with that name in Worldwar II). Sokolowski comes from the Russian word Sokol, which means the falcon. When German nobility "colonized" or "invaded" East Prussia and Poland, there was supposed to be a nobleman called von Falkenhayn. That family exists; many people live in Berlin. The relationship can, however, not be proven; and in any case the Sacklowskis have no castle. There was possibly an illegitimate child involved, and the inheritance laws at the time lead to the impoverishing of the Sacklowskis. Eventually, in the years that Poland was divided between Germany and Russia, i.e. before 1914, my grandfather became a Prussian soldier and moved to Berlin (where my father and I were born).
