I was told many years ago by my Grandfather that we are of Norwegien decent and our names were actually Vikers. When the Vikings came to England to take property and land we established a village and as it was in the old days there was the raising of Hogs and fine hams were produced and sold as Vikers Hams.When our Forfathers came to America they established our new name as Wickersham as the V was pronounced as a W in England,hence Wickersham. We settled first in the Kentucky area and then split off to the west(California)and to the Oklahoma and Texas territory. We are ALL related as our name is very unique as are many names from the old World .George W. Wickersham was the Attorney General of the U.S.and Victor Wickersham a Senator in Oklahoma.We have a very large amount of proffessionals from Attorneys to Neuro Surgeons in our family and I have never yet to know a single Wickersham who did not have a great wealth of inteligence,character,and personality!
